Death and life are in the power of the tongue,
and those who love it will eat its fruits.Proverbs 18:21 (ESV)
I’ve always heard the saying that words are powerful; and that life and death are in the power of the tongue.
An example of this spiritual principle is when the Messenger spoke to the fig tree and it died.
In the morning, as he was returning to the city, he became hungry. 19And seeing a fig tree by the wayside, he went to it and found nothing on it but only leaves. And he said to it, “May no fruit ever come from you again!” And the fig tree withered at once.
20When the disciples saw it, they marveled, saying, “How did the fig tree wither at once?” 21And Jesus answered them, “Truly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what has been done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ it will happen. 22And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith.”
Matthew 21:18-21
While writing, I noticed that both of these references– in Proverbs and in Matthew– use the numbers 18 and 21.
But anyway… I take the fig tree to be an example of the power that each one of us has to contribute to the outcomes in our own lives, whether profitable or unprofitable.
Since the beginning, humans were made in the image of our Creator– meaning that we all have the power to create our own reality with our words.
The Kingdom of heaven is within, and from the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. If that which exists within us is turmoil, sadness, confusion, and poverty, then our outward reality will reflect that.
But if what exists within is peace, love, joy, abundance, and every good thing, then we shall begin to create those very same experiences for ourselves.
In Genesis 1:28, our Creator instructed us to have dominion over the earth and subdue it.
There’s a saying that with 8 billion people alive, there’s 8 billion different worlds and one planet.
Each of us are the center of our own universe and are given the same instructions to have dominion in our world and to subdue it. That means not playing the victim and doubting our own abilities. All that does is gives power to circumstances.
We are not of the world, meaning that the world does not create who we are; it’s who we are within that creates the world we experience.
It’s not what comes within us from without that corrupts us, but what goes out from within.
Let every one of us be convinced in his or her own mind about how they may best construct their reality to bring glory to our Creator.
A King or Queen can hardly be considered such if they allow another to dictate their decisions. That’s called a Vassal– a Puppet.
But it is said that we shall reign on the earth as kings and priests (Revelation 5:10), so let us truly walk in this power.
The subconscious mind is impartial and accepts whatever you feed it. Therefore, go about your days with the intent to speak, blessings, health, abundance, and power in your life and walk in that reality.
Much love.
