Seek peace and pursue it…Psalm 34:14
I will never forget the moment I was walking in Seattle and saw that young girl sitting on the sidewalk. All that she had were the clothes she was wearing, the torn blanket on which she wat, and a piece of wet cardboard which read, “Only looking for compassion.” She received no compassion from me that day, as I walked by her just as everyone else did. I turned away mine eyes from her affliction, thus oppressing her even the more.
I recalled this situation later in self-reflection and it greatly troubled me that I ignored her. As a professing follower of Christ, I had always looked for persecution towards me, but never thought to consider that it was I who was persecuting the poor. This conviction brought me to tears.
Christ said: “If you keep my commandments, you shall abide in my love.” And the commandment is that we love one another as He loved us (John 15:10, 12). That is what this website is all about: loving others, remembering the poor, and spreading peace to the glory of our Father.
My aim is that this aids others to seek peace, to show compassion, and to find hope.
