Could have been
Better; should have been
Better; passed the test
What a mess, God
Could think of me less, God
He doesn’t, God
In His image made me, God
Is the life I breathe, God
Loves unconditionally
God, even me.
What better humility then,
Than for me to love me?
Reflection
In his American Dictionary of the English Language (1828), Noah Webster defined insecurity as lacking “certainty.” Halfway through my degree in Communications I realized that everyone had their own uncertainties about different aspects of their lives.
Uncertainty leads a woman of petite stature to stuff a toothbrush down her throat after every meal. Likewise it causes a man of great potential to lie his face in the dirt as a mat for mockers because it looks as though the obstacles to his dreams are too colossal to overcome.
Uncertainty lead those men of Israel to give a wicked report (lacking faith) saying, Surely we are as grasshoppers to the sons of Anak (Numbers 13:33). And moreover, through uncertainty, the children of Israel did tempt their God saying, Surely Moses brought us into the wilderness to die (Exodus 14:11-12). Thus their Elohim was grieved with them insomuch that the entire generation did die in the wilderness, save Joshua and Caleb for they believed God, following Him whole-heartedly (Numbers 32:11-13), and it was imputed onto them as righteousness.
Truly God knows our insecurities (Hebrews 4:15) and has prepared a way for us to overcome, as it is written, I go to prepare a place for you (John 14:2). And if He has prepared a place for us then surely He has also marked the path that leads there. For Elohim gives us no commandments, save that He should also prepare a way for us to accomplish that which He commanded (1 Nephi 3:7). Let us then follow Him whole-heartedly as Joshua and Caleb did in the wilderness, holding fast to the certainty of this promise: I am with you wherever you go (Joshua 1:9) and I will never leave you nor forsake you (Hebrews 13:5).
