Peace & Poetry

Seek peace and pursue it… Psalm 34:14

Yo, pobre

This poem goes out to the man who cried, “Tengo hambre, tengo hambre,” but I didn’t understand.
Señor, your words have pierced my soul and inspired this prose.

Me da, me dice, ayúdame más
Me ve, me quiere, y mira mi faz
Mi casa no tengo, comida igual
Yo tengo más hambre, no importa cuál
Me duelen los pies y mas caminar
En las tiendas, no puedo entrar
Mi cama la acera, muy frío duermo
Mientras la gente está ignorando
Mi carne fallando, mi alma viva
Yo sé que la luz brilla en mi vida

As I reflect upon poverty in the world, I am ever reminded: I am no better than they!
