About

Introduction

Founded in 2020, Peace & Poetry is a private literary foundation whose mission is to showcase poetry, short stories, and articles by emerging writers that promote mental health, positive lifestyles, and spiritual growth.

Its founder, Jermonté Yeriyahu created the site as a place of literary refuge and encouragement for all those interested in topics surrounding spirituality, whether Christian or not.

Here, you can expect to find poetic reflections and meditations inspired by experiential revelation, as well as articles covering various topics intended to promote a positive lifestyle on all levels through practical actions.

Values

The three guiding values of Peace & Poetry are simplicity, faith, and charity.

Simplicity extends beyond its literal definition, describing something plain, to include authenticity and sincerity of intention.

Faith is the direction behind all we do. We believe that hope in things unseen is evidence of their presence.

Charity is the greatest act of love. It is unselfish and it seeks the well-being of others.

We believe that these values are a sure way to internal peace and love towards humanity.

Meet the Editor

Hi, I’m Jermonté Yeriyahu and I’m an almost–30 minimalist with a keen interest in hiking and a burning passion for poetry. These characteristics are fundamental to my adventurous sojourning and growth towards a higher spirituality. (Dogs are cool too!)

Before becoming the Founder and Chief Editor of Peace & Poetry in 2020, I studied French at a Washington university. Prior to that I was communications Navy veteran. After leaving the military, I chose to stay in Washington rather than returning to my Georgia hometown.

In February 2021, I decided to pursue Peace & Poetry with more intention, so I put my French studies on halt and enrolled in a writing program at the local community college. It was a leap of faith that allowed me to truly focus on my calling– to write.

My life is guided by two overarching principles: to seek peace and to love others as myself. I believe these principles are important to break down the barriers that promote narcissism and materialism which suppress truth and diminish the innate spirituality of man.
