The ways of Man are unknown;
the meditations of his heart ebb & flow,
but Thou, O God, art ever constant.
Thy words more sure than star paths.
In vain doth man think to determine his end;
in error seeks to recreate his beginning,
but Thou controlleth all things;
no plan established save it serve Thy pleasure.
Death does not bargain nor forewarns,
but his appointment is sure.
The grave does not accept bribery,
neither does it respect the esteem of men.
For assuredly as sinful flesh rots,
shall too the glitter of gold perish;
and the king that exalts himself
shall return to trodden dust.
But he that walks in the way of the Lord;
He shall abide forever.
